I am an artist who specializes in lettering on porcelain plates and other ceramic objects using red nail polish. My work breathes new life into items found in thrift stores, transforming them into unique pieces of art. I also seek out brand-new, one-of-a-kind porcelain pieces to inscribe with simple, meaningful phrases.
My inspiration is deeply rooted in the women of Gabon, where I grew up. As a child, I often helped my dear mother write her name using nail polish on the backs of her aluminum pots and porcelain plates—a common practice in Gabon during social events like birthdays, baptisms, and other celebrations. In gatherings where many households come together, this tradition ensures that each woman’s dishes can be easily identified when it’s time to wash up.
This early experience of inscribing names on my family’s kitchenware sparked a lifelong passion for writing on plates. Having traveled the world as a flight attendant, I’ve absorbed the diverse cultures and lifestyles I’ve encountered, which now influence my art. My work is a blend of the rich traditions of Gabon, the vibrant energy of South Africa, the elegance of France, and the intricate beauty of South Asia.
